New Places

I've been trying to become more active, I have a sedentary job and a couple of sedentary hobbies, as well as a sedentary dog..
We started off the year with a First day Hike  walk at Cliffs of the Neuse, I've lived here for 9 years and it is less than 30 minutes away and I had never visited, we've been back a couple of times now and I'm hoping to take full advantage of it as the weather warms up
. My daughter and I braved the bracing cold and took the fuzzy dog for that hike. He's all about walking but we had an issue when we got to the stepping stones across the creek. He was not impressed. It was a bit embarrassing for all of us so I'll just leave that part out..
While the Princess slept in..

I finally got back on track with the walking/Hiking. I had done a lot of it in past years but it got lost in the shuffle of everyday. So in that ideal, The Princess and I have joined a dog walking group recently, it's more fun than it sounds..lol

A local town is working very hard to encourage people to get outside and be more active, in this case they have carved out nice trails, some are even paved, some are wooded and others along existing roads.  This is us with the group in January, before the paving.
This is the princess after our first  walk..lol
We went a bit further than we had originally expected..she has recovered..lol

We've been to new parks and had a great time meeting new people and dogs. This weekend ironically with the weather being so wonderful for February didn't have a planned walk, (Sorry to all of those who ended up with snow and flooding)  so we ventured to see the newly paved trail near the local hospital and community college.
Nice wide trails

It's really getting green and the weather was in the high 70's, Never fear it will drop off again

Enjoying her Walk, much better than a month ago..

She was so enamored of the little fish in this creek that she would have stayed all day to watch them. There was a little turtle who had ventured out too but we missed getting his picture.

It feels like I should be out planting things but my grandmother always said to be careful of planting until Good Friday. We've started some greens and I'm working away on crafts, but also enjoying these stolen moments of nice weather in the tail end of winter.

Thanks for stopping by, now get outside and do something fun!

A Year of Projects Week 35 Year 7

Spring is definitely trying to be sprung around here, Although it is a wee bit early for it. We normally have a final frost sometime around Easter, but the fruit trees and the tulip trees aren't hearing it. Daffodils are blooming and it's only February. Since I have been surrounded with so much color and most of it pink it inspired this new blanket, Gradient Flowers.
Here's the inspiration

I think the cloudy grey skies make the pink pop just like our peach blossoms! Which hopefully won't get frosted on again this year, but I'm not holding out a whole lotta hope on that since it's not even march yet.

The Flower pattern is the Maybelle Flower from 6ichthusfish and it so reminded me of the blossoms on the trees I just had to run with it.

Here's one more pink for you, it's been complete for a while but I finally got some better pictures taken and have added it to my Etsy Store; Farm2Ewe.

I'll be diving back into the stash for something other than pink and I need to update my cold sheep progress too! I'll have an update on that next week!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all of the great blogs that are posting in a Year of Projects!

A Year of Projects- Year 7 Week 34

Soo, It' be been a while since I've posted and a bit longer since I followed up with my Year of Projects. Life has been a bit topsy turvy, lots of changes, some downs and some ups, some downs that are helping me look up. Over all, it's been a thing and I'm working on finding my way again, I feel like I've been in a fog for a while and I lost my craft mojo but the sun is coming back out and I just might have had a very long awaited finish!

I had an unexpected move recently and it's not really completed and it's not the final one in my future but it did have it's  upside, I found a couple of projects that had been lounging around for way too long and I did manage to tuck into it and turn it around to a finish!

This is an afghan that I started oh...maybe 4 years ago for my daughter and I got busy with orders and it ended up in a bag in the bottom of the closet. Shockingly enough I thought ahead and put the extra yarn and the hook in the bag too! So it was easy to pick up where I had left off. It's pretty straight forward pattern, I've heard it called ribbons, but it is basically sets of singles a chain and the doubles. Two rows of the same color to give it definition. It was my tv watching project. I ended up being a bit longer than I had originally planned, I have that problem with popcorn too. I start out with the desired amount and then it just doesn't look like enough so I'll add just a bit more and then I end up blowing off the lid to the popper and a mess, everytime, you would think I would have figured it out by now! But she loves it and I'm ready for it to move on to her house, so it's a check in the win column for me!

I'm ready for spring but I just had to share this winter themed craft that I did for a friend for Christmas. She is a big fan of my pumpkins and she asked me to surprise her with a centerpiece for her Holiday table. This guy was so much fun and I'll be looking forward to making some more next year. Personally this is as close to snow and snowmen as I want to get for a while. This has been a topsy turvy winter weather wise too. We had snow and ice for a week and now it's in the 70's! Not that I'm complaining but it makes me a bit concerned about what July holds for us..

This is the start to my latest project and my helper, doing what she does best.

While I'm rearranging things I need to revisit my Year of Projects listing and update it as well as she what my priorities should be. I'm ready to jump back in and have a productive year even if it's technically half over..lol
